I’ve been out of commission on blogging for the last few weeks. My apologies!
I’ve been engrossed in health books, podcasts, news updates, clients and meetings so this time away from blogging has been spent learning…a ton! I figured it would be best to summarize into a list of the top 10 Health News. These top 10 are News to me and I believe will be for you as well.
1. Katy Perry is a super entertainer. I attended her Prism concert just recently. I watched her enthusiastically jump rope while singing, running, hopping, bopping around the stage. I noticed her energy immediately. Then she announced mid way through the concert she grew her own vegetables in her garden (she emphasized Kale, beets and sweetpeas) and that she was gluten sensitive! Go Katy Go.
2. The Center of Disease control states that there is a 56% reduced chance of catching the flu when vaccinated. Sounds to me like a coin toss? (Information further states that of the illness that spreads throughout the colder months, only 20% to 30% of those ill actually have the flu – the exact strains that the vaccines are designed to beat. The other 70% to 80% of illness is due to viral and bacterial infections not caused by the flu and therefore not protected by the flu vaccine).
3. The Nutrition for Seizures Ebook (authored by me) has been revised multiple times (and will probably endure many more revisions) but has been received positively in the medical community and by a few clients that have located the book on the web. It will be marketed by the end of October, 2014.
4. 80% of the food products that our supermarket sells has SUGAR in them. I knew the number of products was high but I didn’t suspect that high. This means that only 20% of foods purchased in our supermarkets are real foods.
5. Ascorbic acid (Typically the ingredient in Vitamin C supplements) is made from corn. If you have a corn sensitivity – BEWARE.
6. Bone broth is full of vital nutrients that work toward building and repairing tissues and organs- and has been praised since Dr. Natasha Campbell-Mcbride introduced the GAPS diet in 2008. My recent study on bone broth was more specific to the amino acid glycine but I’ve written nothing on its healing benefits to date (more on that in a separate blog). For now, pull out your mom’s chicken soup recipe and indulge.
7. Dr. Tom O’Bryan an avid spokesperson on gluten and it’s disease-creating implications recently stated that they are finding that 2/3rds of NCGS (non-celiac gluten sensitive) individuals express in a neurological manner, rather than with gastrointestinal symptoms.
8. The World Health Organization, the prevailing authority on health around the globe, states that total cholesterol of 225 is an ideal marker to gage health.
9. Raw vegetable juicing works well for individuals that are slow metabolizers. Fast metabolizers or protein type individuals incur blood sugar crashes resulting in more detriments than benefits. So if you become agitated by not eating, pass on the juicing OR be sure to eat protein/fat when juicing.
10. Since the 1980’s our children have become the largest targets by the carbohydrate/sugar food industry. There were 0 (ZERO) cases of diabetes in 1980’s and now 1 in 5 children are diabetic.
Be well,
Lynn
